The 80s - The Good Old Days

It all started back when I first visited this city in the 80s. We were in our early 20s and I was visiting my best mate who had recently moved here for work. I was here for an entire month and all we ever did was party. Day in day out, we were having the time of our lives. We were staying in the mid-levels, and every evening, we would come down to central for drinks. There used to be this basement bar we loved called Thingamiz. The routine was to drink and chat there till 10 or 11 pm and then go to the disco nearby. The night would often go down crazy, especially with the expat girls around for better company. Last came our favourite part of the routine. We would grab a taxi and go ‘sleep’ for a while. Some of the wildest ‘sleep’ I’ll ever have I guess. They were the ‘good old days’. I’m 60 now, we still party but maybe not as hard. A few good drinks with the guys, a nice dinner with my lady and back to bed by midnight. I still visit my mate nearly every year, I mean that’s why I’m back in Hong Kong right now. It has been this way for decades and hopefully, we still have a decade or two left in us.
